Blogging Bad!

I don't get to blog much anymore just too much to do and its really annoying, when I started this blog it was meant to be a proper one not just sticking little bits in here and there. I had ideas big ideas but as usual they have bitten the dust.  Life just seems to be revolving round how to get through the day without too many mishaps.  Mum still isn't well she came out of hospital and now has a facial abscess, but luckily her Vitamin B12 load up injections will finish on Wednesday so she may be feeling a little better by then.  It just seems that this has been a bit of a long haul, two hospitalisations in two months and plenty more going on with her.  I guess old age has finally caught up with her she is after all 84!!

Ive been buying out buying some clothes in between everything.  It started off mainly because Mum has lost such a lot of weight she doesn't fit into anything anymore.  I picked a couple of outfits for her which I knew she would like, and I managed to sneak in a few for me.  Money has been so tight over the last couple of years or so and the body also seems to have changed shape and I really have nothing much to wear that actually goes with something else and that actually fits.  I finally had to give in and go up another size in jeans.  Luckily the ones I picked up fitted perfectly and then I noticed the price, they were in the sale .... so I picked up a couple of more pairs.  I can honestly say I never ever find things that I like and that fits properly in one go but this time I did.  I also bought a really cute cardigan but I'm not really sure about it, I love it but .... not sure whether it loves me.  At my age you would have thought I would be able to work it out wouldn't you!  I moved on to Tee shirts and blouses hmm now you have another story.  Not one white tee shirt in sight and not one white blouse that fitted I was gutted. Mind you at least I have underwear and jeans to wear out now hahahaha.

Hospitals oh hospitals again

A quick post Mum not at all well last week with several trips to the docs and hossies for xrays and blood tests.  Friday another trip to get the results and then she was admitted to hospital again.  Am waiting to see whats what now I left her last night in one ward and now she is another.  Keeping everything crossed they can sort things out for her.

Eye Spy

As we all age makeup is harder to do with all the fine lines that appear on the skin out of nowhere hehehe.  I firmly believe wear what you want to wear on your face and don't be afraid to do your  own thing and dont follow the fashion if you don't want to.  Some people are not keen on  makeup and some people are.  I personally think a little makes us feel better well it does to me.  Do not take any notice of any of these magazines that say you cannot wear black eye liner after a certain age ... its rubbish.  I love a good old smokey eye!  A good tip though is to use a pencil eyeliner and either a) smudge it a little or b) dust some eyeshadow on the top of it or do both, the end result is lovely.  Even try using a black that has got little shimmer, it sounds awful but I tell you it looks great.  Try Clinique Black Diamond Shaper for eyes its good.  Or if you prefer matt with no shimmer try Clarins Waterproof Eye pencil, it has pencil on one end and smudger on the other.  Both are good for the eyes, they don't drag and are soft and they work well.  They obviously are more expensive than some brands but its worth it.  I am sure there are others that work as well more expensive and less expensive, but these two work for me.  Curl the eyelashes with eyelash curler and add lashings of mascara and that's the basics of a good eye.  If you are adding eyeshadow into the mix make sure you prime the eye first.  Boots No 7 eye brightener is a good one to use although use it sparingly, again there are plenty of other makes on the market and its best to find one that works for you, but Boots works for me. Work the eyeshadow using a brush and make sure you blend blend and blend again, there is nothing worse than lines et voila!

Lunch today

Omg it was delicious Thai stuffed salmon with a Thai fragrant sauce and salad.  Stuffed salmon from Asda Walmart fresh fish counter and salad made up of spring onions, shredded carrot, shredded lettuce, pomegrante seeds and pine nuts in their somewhere and  made with my own fair hands hehehehe.  So yummy so quick, pop fish in the cook bag in the oven for 15 mins and hey presto easy peasy scrummy yummy add salad and go.

Boob Results

All good today, the appointment went well, about 8 xrays and an ultrasound and they couldnt find what they found on my mammogram last week.  I am so pleased, I couldnt be doing with anything else going on.  One thing though its finally getting through to me that life is just too short and we should try to live the best we can and do the most that we can or enjoy and stop and smell the coffee !!

Boob News

Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.  Last Monday I had a mammogram and Ive been called in tomorrow for another appointment.  Apparently they have found something on my xray and my appointment is for up to 3 hours boo hoo so lets hope the person who xrayed them last week forgot to tell them I have a defibrillator implanted and maybe its just that,  I cant be doing with any more bad news.

The Eyes Have It

Today I had my hair cut, its super short this time yet again about an inch all over, no change there but ...... My hairdresser has a small beauty salon which is manned just 3 days a week and today I had a complimentary eye brow tidy and tint.  Well I was astounded, my eye brows were waxed to tidy up all the stray hairs and had the odd hair plucked out here and there then they were coloured with brown mixed with a little graphite.  The difference is amazing, now I know why people go and have little beauty treatments done and I will be having this done again.  Its spurred me on and tonight I will be exfoliating my face and applying some fake tan mixed with a little bit of moisturiser, maybe I can convince myself I'm Elle Macpherson hehehehehehehe.

Coconuts oh wonderful Coconuts

If you want a cheap body spray that last all day and smells of coconuts then this is for you.....its from The Body Shop.  I wanted something that didn't evaporate and you could just lightly spray on.  My normal toilette waters just don't seem to smell at all in this hot weather and I'm sure not going to waste them (Clarins Eau Dynamisante being my favourite).  You certainly cant miss the smell of this one and as I already have the body lotion it seemed like a good match and it is hehehe.

Women of a certain age

Ive been looking at some fashion type blogs recently and I notice there are very few pictures taken of older women but plenty of older men pictures.  Do women become invisible after a certain age?  Do they become inconsequential?  Its really annoying.  Just because you get older it doesnt mean you dont enjoy fashion or makeup.  It may not be your first priority in all cases but women of a certain age do exist!!!

Risk, Dare Dream, Believe

Wow what a week.

Still sorting Mum out making her walk and being a bit of a nice bully to her for her own good, otherwise she will be totally housebound.

Dealing with The Treasury yes The Treasury, and The Crown Estates Solicitors, trying to get them not to sell a beautiful Beech Hedge and Birch Trees opposite my house to someone from another road who wishes to build a house in his garden.  I didnt realise I had it in me to find out who owned the land and look into all sort of legalities and actually put forward a proper legal argument against the sale.  I was like a dog with a bone and I did it.  Just have to wait now so keeping everything crossed but I think it will be months until I hear if it has been successful.  

Im looking forward to a rest and to finally get this blog running as I want it and having time to actually write on it.  Also I really must try and get my little business up and running properly.  I know once I set my mind to something I can do it, its just getting to that point !!

Exhausted.com

Am exhausted, my mother hasn't been well and ended up in hospital   She finally got discharged and improved a little and now shes gone backwards again.  I had to call the Docs out again today, her sodium is going down and she has a chest infection and high BP so its antibiotics and fluid restriction to go with her humongous amount of medications she already takes.  Keeping toes, fingers and everything else I can cross crossed that she makes a recovery pretty quickly cos its been a  bit of a nightmarish month.

The Meaning of Life

I have re learnt recently what I have always known but really haven't put it into practice.  We should always wear what we want to wear each day, don't save anything for best just wear what you enjoy. Throw out all rubbish, donate what is good or ebay it and buy what you want within your budget.  Do we really need to be so materialistic. Pare down the wardrobe be able to see what you have to wear and enjoy what you wear. We should do what we want to do, within reason of course as long as people etc don't get hurt.  We should always tell the people we love we love them or at least show them them respect and understanding rather than just bumbling along like always.  We should wear the beautiful perfumes we have there just in case or just for best.  If we want to go out in full makeup and we like it just do it, don't follow fashion or what other people say. If you don't like makeup don't feel you have to wear it to be in with the crowd.  Be yourself and enjoy everything.  Don't skimp on food, surely its better to eat a little of what you love rather than a load of crap, or make food cheaply with love.  Eat as well as you can on budgets.  I for one would rather eat better food at home and not go out for meals ... not that I have any extra money to do that lol. Don't be fooled into thinking we all have millions of good friends, most of us don't we just have a few good 'uns,  so we have to put ourselves and the ones we love first.  If anyone has time then volunteer, help someone else or find a cause you enjoy and donate a little bit of time, it will all help.  I can go on an on and on but its all true life is too short.  We don't know whats round the corner, one minute we can be healthy and one minute unhealthy, we just don't know whats in store for us so embrace what we have even if we don't feel like it and fight for what we think is right in life and damn well enjoy what we have the best we can.

Pooped

So tired, Mums not well, am getting used to ambulances and doctors coming to her house now.  Cant think straight any more could do with a long sleep.   All in all pretty much pooped !

Dresses, sizing and good old Ebay

I want to wear a dress.  I never "do" dresses but its finally got to me I want to wear one on a daily basis in this weather.  Ive searched and searched for what I would like to wear but can I find one which I like .... in a word .... NO.  I don't understand why shops seem to think that everyone wants to wear something just covering their bum.  I see lovely dresses but way way too short, but then the longer dresses look so frumpy. Just because we aren't young doesn't mean we want to look awful.  You would think designers would  have got the message by now.  All I want is one that is soft lands just below my knees and has 3/4 sleeves.and low low neck so that my boobs hang out .. now how simple is that!  Oh and inexpensive hehehehehehehe.  One day eh one day, or maybe I will have to make my own. 

On re-reading this post I'm actually annoyed that shops don't cater properly for women.  For a start they cant get the sizing right and they automatically think if you are over a certain age you want a certain style.  I actually really really love a dress in New Look but its so short,  it would look great over jeans I am sure but that's not what I want.  I looked at good old British Marks and Spencer online and omg the knee look dresses are absolutely awful.  Where has it all gone wrong they are fuddy duddy and their buyers seem to be out of touch, I noticed from peoples reviews even the older ladies thought the styles not good enough quality or design.  Unfortunately I really don't have much spare cash and that's something else these stores seem to think about.  Sadly in this day and age not everyone has the most wonderful job, if they have one at all, and they certainly don't have money to spend on high end stuff or want to waste on tat from some of the lower end stuff.  I try to customise wherever possible anyway but I really like to try on before I buy and where live we haven't really any good shops at all.  Ive tried on Ebay but the sizing is almost always wrong and I end up making dresses into tops, and I don't always make a good job if it lol.  I just wish there was an answer.  I think basically I should sell all of my clothes that look awful on me and spend the money on just one perfect item ... that is if anyone wants to buy what Ive got so Ebay here we come.

Short Dry Hair Care

For anyone with hair like mine which although very short is now dry and very strong probably due to lack of oestrogen hehe its  hard to find shampoos that aren't too drying and that give loads of shine.  Its taken me a while but I find Organix Coconut shampoo and conditioner brilliant.  Then every week or when I feel it needs it I also give it a good old condition with Hair Mayonnaise, its all fab stuff and well worth trying.  Its not cheap cheap but not too expensive either and if you get them in the UK at Boots on their 3 for 2 offers its well worth a try, otherwise I think they are roughly £5.99 each. I must admit I would love to try Aveda range but sadly its not in my price range and to  be honest what I use I am 100% happy with.

If your hair is short and you need extra shine a bit of definition I use Hairgum Legend Classic Cire Coiffante hair styling pomade, its perfect, a little hold and super shine.  Sadly its really hard to get hold of I am using the last scrapes round the tin .... I really wish I could get some more.

Crazy crazy ... never get sick

Still fighting with the Department of Work and Pensions over stuff. I am going round in circles, my appeal has been turned down cos apparently I was appealing a 2009 decision .... news to me of course. With all the documentation that they have on me in the middle stands my lonely letter saying what I am appealing against and its definitely not a 2009 decision. It just shows that they don't look at anything or don't want to look at anything so now its another letter I have to send or go to a tribunal and get turned down when its them that's made the mistake ... if you understand what I mean. The money this government must waste on this is unbelievable !  Motto of the day is whatever happens "don't get sick !!!"

Hairless !

Hairs done its been cut and its extremely short, I always like short hair but hmmm not sure this time, its really really short even by my standards!  Scary Mary thats all I can say hehehehehehe.
